Ulcerative colitis (chronic inflammation of the colon)
Description
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic, relapsing inflammation of the colon. Mainly affected the superficial layers of the mucosa in the colon. In ulcerative colitis develop inflammatory ulcers that bleed easily. Typical symptoms are bloody stools, diarrhea and abdominal pain.
In some ways, similar to ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease that occurs mainly in the small intestine, but can also affect the colon.
